Challenge: Developing a Secure and User-Friendly Patient Portal with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)

The main challenge in this example of AEM and PingOne Integration was to develop a platform that offered both enhanced security features and simplified content authoring capabilities through Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Previous patient site platforms within client’s organization utilized lighter CMS solutions, and the goal was to elevate Patient Portal to meet higher security standards while ensuring ease of use for content editors.

Solution: Improving Patient Data Security with PingOne Authentication in a SCRUM-Driven AEM Project

The project adopted SCRUM methodology with 2-week sprint iterations, leveraging the expertise of a dedicated team comprising AEM Subject Matter Experts, backend and frontend developers, software quality assurance specialists, and project management. The team utilized a stack including Adobe Experience Manager 6.4, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, JIRA, Confluence, Automated Exploratory Tests (AET), BitBucket, Bamboo, and Browserstack to facilitate development and testing.

Key components of this PingOne and AEM example of integration included:

  • AEM Component Design: Utilization of out-of-the-box AEM components to streamline development and ensure consistency.
  • Accessibility and Performance: Pages were designed for high accessibility, with periodic lighthouse tests to optimize performance.
  • Authentication Integration: Implemented secure authentication mechanisms based on Ping One integration to safeguard patient data.
  • Patient Engagement Features: Developed a treatment reminder feature to enhance patient engagement and adherence to treatment schedules.

In this Integration AEM and PingOne Case Study, the successful implementation of the Patient Portal underscored the effectiveness of agile methodologies and close client engagement in delivering complex digital solutions. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and adhering to stringent security standards while prioritizing user experience, our team was able to establish a secure and user-friendly patient portal that met the diverse needs of Australian patients seeking reliable treatment information. This project stands as a testament to the value of proactive collaboration and technical expertise in achieving business goals and enhancing patient care through digital innovation.
