Jim Capanna acquires JCI
Direct Marketing and Fulfillment Division

Division to merge with The Total Mailing System

Jim Capanna, owner of JMC Direct, a direct marketing solutions provider, announces his acquisition of the JCI Direct Marketing and Fulfillment Division of JCI Data Processing, Inc. in Cinnaminson, NJ.

  • In addition to his acquisition of the JCI DM Division, effective January 2004, Capanna will merge that division with The Total Mailing System (TTMS) of West Deptford, NJ

  •  Robert Powell will continue in his current role as President/Owner of TTMS, with Capanna coming on board as Director of Business Development

  • JCI Data Processing, Inc. will expand the focus of its current payroll businesses under the direction of Linda Johnson, President/Owner

According to Capanna, "The timing was right for this opportunity. JCI’s business plan to emphasize its other divisions prompted me to develop a strategy to support my clients’ interests going forward. Their long-term direct marketing production service needs are compatible with the current TTMS service capabilities and strategic business goals. Let’s face it, my clients’ satisfaction and my reputation depend on my providing the best solutions for them. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance the level of superior service they have come to expect from our dedicated customer service and production staff who will continue to serve them."

Mr. Capanna‘s 20 years of marketing and business development experience and network of clients and prospects will add a new dimension to the TTMS environment. TTMS has been in a steady growth mode for 20 years with a hands on operational experienced owner, without a marketing or sales force. Mr. Powell says "TTMS is a solvent company with a commitment to investing in the future. We’ve recently moved to a new facility and purchased additional property for future expansion. Jim’s bringing in his JCI Division with their assets, strengths and expertise will help us to jump start that expansion. "

JMC Direct and JCI have worked with TTMS for many years as vendor partners and share several clients. Capanna and Powell are both family oriented professionals who have lived and been active in the same community for over 20 years, sharing a mutual network of friends, peers, and clients. They have had a common goal of working together for several years and, according to Ms. Johnson, were both instrumental in the JCI Direct Marketing acquisition of another fulfillment company last year.

The merged company will build on the foundation of the TTMS strength in lettershop production services coupled with the JCI computer, personalization and fulfillment know-how. Powell and Capanna will bring their time-tested "customer first" approaches to provide resourceful production solutions to their existing and new clients. TTMS is first and foremost a true "service bureau", providing a wide range of direct mail production systems, including computer processing, postal automation techniques, personalization and lettershop services, supported by strong, consultative customer service.

Terms of the acquisition and merger were not disclosed.
